Jennette Scanlon is a Professional Horse Woman, with a lifetime’s dedication to teaching, training and learning. Her approach to Equestrian Arts focuses on developing horses and riders that apply theory to the actual practice of successful competition.
Jennette has attended Working Student Programs, and studied under many experts in the field, including Brian Sabo, Valerie Owens and Karen Hardy. As a young student, Jennette traveled to Pennsylvania and completed a years intensive study in Dressage concepts and applications of training. Jennette’s love of horses is intergenerational.† She began riding over 20 years ago with her Grandfather in Clear Lake, California. She joined the Sierra Gold Pony Club at age 13, and is a graduate member at the H-A Level. At the age of 17, she and her teammates won the Pony Club National Dressage Competition in Ogden UT. Jennette maintains her ties to Pony Club through her works as a Ratings Examiner, teaching and mentoring at camps and meetings, and as a Horse Management Judge at Rallies. Jennette is a Pony Club Lifetime Member.

Jennette founded Jennette Scanlon Training in 1992, and eventually moved into a private facility in Roseville, California in 1997. This private training facility specialized in dressage, eventing and starting horses. During this time Jennette developed professional relationships with mentors and teachers such as Ray Hunt, Mike Osinski, Mary Wanless and Charles DeKunffy, among others. Jennette continues to refine and focus her business on training and students with her move to Royal Oak Farm in Granite Bay, California. Jennette is a USDF “L” Graduate with Distinction, and she holds a USDF Silver Medal. She is currently competing horses in dressage through the FEI Levels and various levels in combined training events. Jennette’s horses and students have excelled under her guidance. Her students continue to achieve superior results.† Their accomplishments include: Junior Champions at the CDS/USDF Annual Championships (2004 and 2005) Regional and National Titles in Dressage/Sport Horse Competitions in Arabian and Half-Arabian shows.Jennette leads by example. In January 2006 Jennette expanded her business to begin collaboration with the Etoile International Equestrian Academy in Rhede, Germany. As an Etoile Associate Trainer Jennette accompanied students on frequent trips to Germany to broaden their equestrian skills and knowledge.† Jennette also provided brokerage services to clients wishing to purchase horses through the Etoile Academy. Throughout her career, Jennette has demonstrated a commitment to Etoile’s philosophy and training system, and is proud to be associated with the Academy and its Chief Instructor Steffan Kiesewetter. Etoile has now become the International Dressage Academy, where Jennette continues her dedication to the German theory by hosting clinics with Cheif Trainer, Christiane Borchert several times a year. |
